I really like the washed out metallic look, but at the same time I wish at least the fire color would pop out to give it a BAM or WOSH!!! I'd play around with "Selective Color".
Kinda like how you made it sparkle as well (gaussian blur at some blend mode I presume?).
The obvious things I can point out is some edges of the smoke are too sharp (crotch and also left side of that) and to blur the background in the alleyway.

Kinda sad that this forum has died, so much recourses and knowledge here. :l
And yes, it was gaussian blur + blending mode ;P Soft light or overlay if I am not wrong and with lowered opacity.
To be honest, all my last works have been smudges, so this was kinda fun I guess. ^^
And hey, in my opinion it doesn't look that bad, even tho I suck at using c4d's and all that stuff. xD

Always good to try out new resources, often you come across new (or sometimes old) tricks that enhance your own personal style.
Don't stop learning and trying new stuff, otherwise your work gets 'boring' and you might lose interest in it! Loved your attempt BTW ^^
